About Motomoshi
Motomoshi lets you track all your vehicle related costs. You can easily add your fill-ups and expenses, such as maintenance costs or checkups. Motomoshi provides you with a clear overview of all of your entries in a timeline. Over time, your data will be displayed as useful statistics and even on a dedicated report page, which will give you insight in your driving styles, consumption, and costs. Besides tracking fill-ups and expenses, Motomoshi includes various other useful functions. For instance, users can find and view information about venues and petrol stations on a map view, adding missing locations if necessary as they go. They can create useful reminders in order to be reminded when important events are due, such as taking their car for an annual checkup, or extending an insurance. All of this information is accessible to the user both from the Android application and the website, so they can keep track of their vehicle wherever they go.
Designing the application
In 2019 I joined Motomoshi as a Product Designer. Originally the application used a more traditional Android look and feel for each of their screens. The vision for the product however, was to restyle it to a more modern, user friendly and ‘cleaner’ version. As the main designer in team, the challenge of defining this new style was my task. Since the application was already available as a beta version, I worked on both redesigning and expanding existing functionalities and creating new designs throughout the development process.
This often required gathering and setting design requirements and specifications, generating ideas, sketching and further designing new screens. Some features were more extensive. To create solid results for these new features, I went through multiple design stages. These included gathering requirements, making personas, generating user stories, determining the impact and effort of concepts, low-fidelity prototyping, testing, iterating, more (including A/B) testing and eventually producing a high-fidelity designed prototype, ready for further development. In order to achieve good and user-friendly results I worked closely with the team both throughout and after these design cycles, allowing for solid implementation of delivered designs. Some of the designed screens can be found as a short overview below.
